Death Lilly is a self-reflexive photomedia project exploring the cultural construction of the ‘flower girl’ and ideals of innocent white femininity within bridal culture. Drawing on themes of the uncanny, death, wildness and violence, the work deconstructs and reappropriates the visual language of the bridal magazine to challenge sanitised, middle-class representations of femininity and create a more complex narrative around girlhood, memory and identity.
